Sorry to continue this thread, but I do have the pines outside. I brought them in just for the photos, it was night time here when I took them lol. My main concern is weather I should leave them in regular potting soil or change them to the bonsai soil. The soil is a lava rock blend. |

I don't know much about that particular blend but as a bonsai mix it will be better for the trees than potting compost. You should re-pot as growth starts in spring. I'm not sure what your weather is like but if it's raining a lot make sure they are covered so they don't sit in waterlogged soil. |

You said that you didn't have access to a garden, being in an apartment and I took that literally. By all means re-pot them into the bonsai medium in March when signs of new growth appear. |
