My name is Ben I am from north Wales I have been attempting bonsai for a few month's nothing died on me yet despite Mr wind's best efforts (knocked over 3 of my trees ) lost a bit of the buzz after 3 fell and smashed but after seeing new growth on the remaining tree I was sure wasn't going to ever be a bonsai again it reinforced my faith and been hooked since all ways reading ppls posts but never normal contribute but I am looking to make my first decent amount of money on a tree so any advice my way about absolutely anything you guys think I should no will be appreciated :Big Thumb:

Hi Harmes and welcome.

Llandudno is a great town. I've been there on many an occasion.

Just a word of warning on spending a 'Decent amount of money' on a Bonsai. Just make sure you have the skills, patience and experience to look after it before shelling out on a specimen tree. Remember - some trees are easier to look after and maintain than others.

I agree with Nick, you don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy the hobby. Learn the basics first

There is a great club in the Wirral, about an hour from you and they hold various events at Goredale Garden centre, Burton [which is a bit closer to you. They have a very good show and workshops

Hi Ben, welcome. We've all hit a few bumps on the bonsai road, it's part of learning.

Much of my initial learning was to observe my trees closely through the season - and my tree preferences have changed over time. My advice is therefore to get a selection of cheap beginner material in priority over an expensive 'finished' tree.

One of my firsts 'finished' trees was a privet, which I bought as a treat - this was a good choice as it copes well with mistakes. :)
