Hi everyone, my name is Daniel. I first tried my hand at a bonsai 2 years ago. I believe it was a Chinese elm I had. Sadly that one died after a fee months.... well. I did a he'll of a lot of research and have come back with Japanese black pine seeds... I intend to grown and bonsai these myself. I have done my research on germination and am fairly confident I can do this, there are currently in my fridge lol. So I hope to have this journey and share it with people here and maybe get the odd pointer along the way. Nice to meet you all Dan |

Hi Dan, welcome. Seeds - hmm, you may want to get something a little further along, loads of advice here about starter trees. |

Welcome to weetrees. Growing from seed is great but it'll be many years before there's much to do or admire. Like Brendan says why not get a new starter tree to practice on while waiting for your black pines to grow. |

Welcome to Wee Trees Dan. I’m a big fan of seed growing too although, they’re right, you do need more mature material to keep you going. Have you seen Jonas Dupuich’s tips on growing Black Pines from seed beginning with the link below. https://bonsaitonight.com/2016/08/17/gr ... pine-seed/ |

I am not expecting it to be easy, but at less than £2 for 20 seeds I'll give it a go. last bonsai was £15 and died less than a year after buying ( obviously I did something wrong) but thats a lot of money in my opinion to learn with lol. I don't usually have trouble with plants and shrubs I grom from seed or bulb but for some reason almost all the plants and shrubs I buy end up dying soon. I am theorizing the same with the bonsai with a cautious step lol. I could be wrong. But as a begginer, from the moment they are planted I will be taking photos every week to see the progress (if any) |
