Hello everyone and thanks for accepting me to the forum.

My name is John and I am a real newbie to bonsai. I have never owned a bonsai, but that means I have never killed one either! On Saturday June 16th I went to Greenwood Bonsai for Corin Tomlinson's bonsai introductory course. I have to say that it was amazing. I learned such a lot as well as bringing two bonsai home with me. Prior to the course I had bought a Juniper Communis and a Cryptomeria Japonica from garden centres. Now, with the knowledge I gained, I have started to work on them to transform them into bonsai (hopefully). If any people out there are like me and are considering bonsai as a hobby, Corin's course is money very well spent and I would urge you to book a place before you try anything on your own.

Good way to start John. Welcome to the friendliest forum. All too frequently, people come to us for help only when their first tree/s start to decline in health.

Welcome to weetrees and to Bonsai. Yes Corin is well respected and his courses are by reputation very good - he's also on this forum and pops up from time to time.

Do you have any pics of your trees? We love a picture here.

Welcome. The bug has bitten hard with you. You will never look at a hedge in the same way again...

Thank you everyone for making me feel so welcome. The bug has certainly bitten me hard. I will certainly try and get some photos and upload them.

Welcome John. I also took that course back in Oct 2015, and still have my two trees (alive!). Lucky for me Greenwood is only 20 minutes up the road, and so I can pop in quite often. I would definitely recommend going to one of the Bonsai Bashes... I've been to the last two and both were great. The next one is in mid-September... see the details here: https://www.bonsai.co.uk/

Thanks Ben. I am certainly going to the Bonsai Bash in September. Really looking forward to it.
