Hi NickD

A deep breath in. You have now found the place that'll answer all your questions and worries. Members are passionate and you'll have tons of information. Obviously, use this forum to ask question BEFORE you attempt anything major. It's never a good idea to go along and collect, chop, cut, wire, bend, root prune and repot a tree and THEN asking why it's dying.

Hi, I've been trying for hours to post photos but no luck. My lack of knowledge regarding Bonsai is only exceeded by that of computers
( probably technology in general actually)
The saga goes on. I'll try again tomorrow. Just wanted to say I'm grateful for the advice so far but having a technical hitch.

Welcome to the forum fellow east anglican!

Yeah, i bought a garden centre juniper last spring, removed like 90% of its foliage and branches (yes, i know, i know.....), took away a huge portion of root, then planted it in a small pot and wired it. 10 months later, the juniper has not grown at all, and is probably dying as we speak.

Massive noob mistake, and one i will not repeat again. Other trees i bought from garden centres are doing well, my rosemary trees are healthy, and the rest did brilliantly last year, they are all still outside but in a sheltered spot by the fence and shed.

So it is well worth getting trees from places like this, just dont jump right in and maul the poor things before you get a chance to enjoy them!

It is relatively easy to post photos using a website called imgbb.
Go to imgbb.com click on the big blue icon in the middle of the page then follow the instructions. Once you have pressed upload you need to select the ' BBcode full linked' option from the drop down box then copy the code and paste it into your post. Do this process and copy the link first then come back to weetrees, open a reply box and paste the link in.

OK
I know!!
There is a third Acer but it's at the same stage.
I'm not daft enough to call them Bonsai yet but is there hope?
I also have another stub very similar the the 'thorn which is a beech . It looks pretty much like the former.
