Interested in growing small fruit trees from cuttings
In particular prunus mume

I am a novice so any advice on rooting fruit tree cuttings would be great

Cuttings and seed take for ever to grow before you can do anything with them, better to find a tree with a good branch with some shape in it and take an air layer. You might be able to reduce the leaf but not the size of any fruit. That's why most use crab apple etc...because of the smaller fruit.

Same goes for prunus mume.

Better to get one from a trader and then you can do things to improve it over the first few years.
