Hi everyone,

My names Ash and I’ve been lurking for a few weeks now and thought it’s about time to say hi and start some threads of my own. I’ve been into bonsai for about a year now, and I have about 15 trees at various stages of development, mostly Shohin at the moment but looking to start getting some bigger pieces of material to work on.

Looking forward to learning from you all!

Cheers!

Ash

Welcome to Weetrees. You'll get lots of help here, and you'll soon find yourself totally addicted. Luckily, as a hobby you can end up with lovely trees regardless of what your financial restraints are. Most of us have a whole mishmash of trees we've begged, borrowed or otherwise acquired for little or no cost. Though if you ever win the lottery, there are some stunning trees to be had.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

With 15 trees it sounds like you are already addicted.

I will post soon regarding a one day charity Open Gardens in Swindon where you can get up close to some of the BIG Chelsea Flower show bonsai on Sat 27th July 2019. Also a club display by the Swindon club

There is a big bonsai sale at Staverton on Sun 28th July, well worth a visit to increase your collection :132doh:

Hi Ash and welcome
15 trees at various stages of development sounds like a good basis for a collection. What species have you got? :Big Thumb:

I will definitely be at the Staverton sale this year, I went along last year and left with three trees, I’m hoping to get something a bit bigger this year, but sadly money is tight at the moment while I’m saving for a mortgage so we will see! Did you have a display at this years swindon winter show! I went this year and was very impressed with the trees!

Hey Sputnik, I’ve got a Larch, crab apple, cork bark Chinese elm, English oak, hawthorn, some kind of juniper (I think maybe a Sabina but I’m not sure), two olives, Scots pine, a few silver birch (one is a group planting), a Cotoneaster and a couple of different tropicals. Really enjoying working on the olives at the moment, my bigger one is growing like a weed!

I’ll start posting some pictures soon!
