Hello All
Just thought I’d drop a post in here to introduce myself (and get my post count up!)
At risk of duplicating some info from my post in the ‘Help for All’ section, I was given a Chinese Elm around 20 years ago, which I promptly killed but not before I had taken a couple of cuttings.
Happily these cuttings (and multiple further cuttings thereof!) are still with me, and after an uneducated attempt at keeping some in bonsai pots a few years ago (didn’t last long unfortunately) I am now much better informed and have potted this year Chinese Elm, Cotoneaster, Pyracantha & Ficus - all appear to be thriving up to now!!
These all came from cuttings, and may never win any beauty contests, but having stuck with me over quite a few years now, and through three house moves finally to a house with a reasonable sized garden, I am quite attached!

I have had a couple of Oaks in plant pots for 15ish years now, which are gradually working their way towards bonsai pots, and have kept 3 Hawthorns scavenged from the garden hedge in plant pots for a couple of years which are subject to my regular pruning and are edging that way too.
I may even be brave enough to add some photos here as everyone seems friendly/realistic with constructive comments!

I have actually spent some money on a Larch now, which has a reasonable sized trunk and hopefully plenty of potential, viewtopic.php so pushing myself a bit and looking forward to seeing how I can develop this, and will no doubt be picking people’s brains on a regular basis.
I have looked interestedly at http://www.southyorksbonsai.org.uk for quite a while and appreciate this would be a great way to develop my knowledge and meet others, maybe if/when meetings restart I will get to one of these groups.

In general, i find the propagation and growing 'easier' than the styling/design, so that's something that I am really trying to get a better feel for - the photo's shared on here really help, as do the odd visits to Greenwoods & last week's opportunistic stop off at Devon Bonsai Nursery.
Thanks for all the information & photo’s shared on here, they are very helpful and inspiring.

Cheers
Mark

Meant to add, other projects in development this year trying air layers for the first time, in an attempt to get more advanced material to work with a bit quicker, and annoying the Mother in Law with bits of moss filled plastic round her prize Acer & Wisteria!

Welcome to weetrees.

When I started I was annoyed at not having done 5 posts and so needing to wait for approval. But after the initial hurdle it all seemed to get a bit out of hand very quickly.

Welcome

Why not create a post for each of your trees? That way you can have annual updates and get advice and suggestions as you go along. I have threads going back years, and I am reminded constantly how valuable the advice from this forum has been.
