The number of members on the forum has decreased by several hundred in the last two years. This is because I have been systematically deactivating accounts where the user has never posted anything. Where these non-posters have visited the forum during the last 18 months, I have left them in place.
It has proved to be a never ending task or so it seems but I had hoped that it would decrease the load and possibly speed things up. I may have been wrong but I'm still deactivating a couple of dozen here and there. ::dunno:

We thank members for their patience and understanding during the recent sluggish speed of the forum. It may prove to have been helpful in the long run because our refreshed connection is running faster than I can remember it ever working in the past. This is no doubt due to the remarkably persuasive tongue of a certain resident of the badlands North of Hadrian's Wall. Anyway, we're grateful that you stuck it out and remained faithful to the friendliest forum.

Please don't bother to write to tell me when there's something wrong with the forum. I'm probably one of the first to notice as I visit regularly every hour or so. I can't usually do anything about speed or it going AWOL but what I can do I will. I'm sure that Keith is in the same position, he's always logged in by 07.30. If you do need to write about anything else, Email would always be quickest because I check messages every time I sit here. stymie@blueyonder.co.uk. I don't use facebook all the time.
