Been out there getting snow off the trees as it was starting to get a bit silly how much weight was on them. All wired trees are going to need reshaping again . My greenhouse was starting to buckle a bit.

I wondered if I was the only one. We only had snow on Sunday here, so I spent the afternoon brushing off as much as I could. A couple of the trees had tipped over with their pots due to the weight. They wouldn't balance again until the snow had gone.

I had to repair the sun shading over one of my benches, some of the wood had snapped due to the weight of the snow........ first time ever that this has happened.

My neighbour has a cover over his patio and the weight of the snow had buckled the double clear poly carbonate/ plastic roof and ripped it out of it's fixings.... so you can just imagine what it does to tree branches, especially the ones with wire cause it will bend the wire and you then have to re set everything when it thaws.

None of my trees are wired but would you suggest knocking the snow off the branches???? :smallthumb:

I do, especially on the finer branched ones, like my siberian elms. I know if people who have had a broken branch especially if the snow freezes and get heavier. Ionly do this when I know that it isn't going to thaw for a few days, otherwise the weather does it for me

I use a soft broom to gently remove, or even the hose on fine, which makes it disappear quickly and waters the tree at the same time..... :07hysterical:
