Aweful. I expect the trees were probably stolen to order or for export though. You'd have to be an idiot to steal something and not know what to do with it. |

I wonder if they had buyers lined up already. Trees of that kind of quality would be easily recognisable so doubt will be seen in public again. Such a shame |

Quite possibly. There not likely to show up in a local japanese event for the reasons you state so it'll be a private sale or shipping abroad. Unless the thieves are just idiots. Sadly you rarely hear of stolen trees being recovered. |

Hi The level of theft in Japan is very low compared to the rest of the world. It would be my guess that it wasn't a Japanese person who stole them. I am always sorry to hear of the theft of bonsai though. |

I have just been telephoned by BBC Wiltshire [local radio] and I am on air about 1645 to discuss this theft Quite a few of the thefts in the UK end up with them being dumped in a poor state, as the thieves find that they can't sell them on easily |
