Xylella- Its not yet confirmed in UK but is now in North and South America,Italy Spain Southern France Portugal.

It affects Olives Lavender Bay Rosemary Grapevine Polygala, Prunus and dozens of other common garden plant species.

It could decimate our horticulture, nurseries and countryside if it got here..... so dont buy any dodgy imported olives or smuggle them back from southern Europe!!

I thought spittle bugs were fairly widespread. I removed two only today. Threw one in a spiders web but it didn't seem interested.

My Lavender hedge usually gets covered in them this time of year, it never seems to do it any harm, so I just leave them.

The survey is to understand the prevalence of sap sticking insects in order to have the data available for risk evaluation should Xylella arrive in the UK.

Same. And again this year. My Lavender is covered with it. I thought those were snail eggs. A guest told they could be Cuckoo Spit. Now that. Confused.com

If that is the bad stuff, what treatment?

Froghoppers ( Spittle bugs) are harmless, but are unwitting carriers of Xylella out side the uk.
is not in the UK but could be introduced through the importation of infected plants.
