Why do you want to keep them off? We should all be doing everything we can to help our bees - if they damage a few leaves just cut them off.

why would you want to spray chemicals at your trees and bees ..
i love the fact bees use a few bits of leaf from my trees ..
we should do everything we can to encourage bees..as we all know.
who cares about a few leaves.. that will all fall off soon.
anyone who grows deciduous tress knows that leaves look tired at the end of summer..
i am surprised at people willingness to spray poisons at their trees

It's not just a few leaves in my garden, they massacre a few plants every year. The maples manage to hang on but for the last couple of years haven't extended new growth after the bees come. They defoliated our roses and two didn't bother this year, hopefully the others will make it through to next year. None of them ever get a bud out any more any way.

I've looked around neighbours' gardens for obvious bee hotels but I can't see the source of the plague ;) The weevils don't help but seems to target different plants, like a coordinated strike force.
