Every time I logon and try to view posts on here this week I get this warning message saying that this site is a potential security risk and blocking me from viewing posts- Is it just me or are others having the same issue?
Can our Wee trees administrator advise whats going on please?

Hi

There is nothing wrong with the site, it is just a message to inform you that the URL is not starting with www.https. It is your web browser that is doing the reporting.

In this case it is nothing to worry about.

Hi

What browser are you using? Check it's settings and reduce the security level if possible.

Personally I don't worry about this. The amount of personal info you put on the site is virtually non existent.i get no messages when on the phone or on the laptop on internet explorer which Norton installed. If I use Google chrome on the laptop then I get the message . But basically the message is saying they have no feedback for this site. Just chill and have a G & T.

Only time i would worry about site security is when im entering my credit card details or buying va paypal , other than that its not an issue. The S in https just means any info passed between your computer and the web server, is encrypted, though even HTTPS websites can be unsafe, having a secure site does not mean it is secure, and having a website that is not encrypted does not mean it is unsafe.

It's because it's http, not https. There's a push to move towards the latter, but I wouldn't worry for a forum

Thanks everyone for your advice and reassurances.
The problem seems to have almost stopped now, dunno why because I havent altered any settings on my laptop - the warning message has only popped up once this evening and strangely enough only when I opened this thread!! :132doh:

That's also what I believe as I get warning too. Reminder:

HTTPS URLs begin with "https://" and use port 443 by default, whereas, HTTP URLs begin with "http://" and use port 80 by default.

HTTP is not encrypted and is vulnerable to man-in-the-middle and eavesdropping attacks, which can let attackers gain access to website accounts and sensitive information, and modify webpages to inject malware or advertisements. HTTPS is designed to withstand such attacks and is considered secure against them (with the exception of older, deprecated versions of SSL).
