For about 18 months now I have been using Leca in my bonsai soil mix, with what appears to be good results. There has also been some questions raised on here about how good it is etc. Tonight I was watching the latest Peter Chan Utube video and its on there.

Ive trialled it as well and found it quite useful, and being lightweight it would be good for very large pots and slab planting to help keep the weight down! Its promoted for use on roof gardens for that reason.
Only disadvantage I found is the particles tend to float so theyre are easily washed out , but theyre less prone to breaking down than Akadama.

I tend to use a fairly fine hose/can when watering so don't have any problems with floating.
