I have five part time jobs, four of which are self employed and those four have ground to a halt. The paid job is charity work and although that's dried up (client contact doesn't go well with social isolation) I'm still being paid, for which I'm very grateful, and have switched my focus to foodshare deliveries. There are thousands, possibly millions, of others who have lost work at least short term and my sympathies go out to all of them. The economy like the health of the nation is taking a kicking at this time.

Trees are doing OK though with plenty of attention.

I am self employed. And I fall neatly through all the cracks so that I am not one of the 95% that the Govt are promising to help.

I am praying that my one client who is unaffected by this needs me to help with something that they can actually focus on right now. Fingers crossed!

Not questioning anything that doctor said about Johnson taking wrong decisions and misleading the country.
But I do think other countries' leaders have done as bad or worse. Spain, USA, Brasil to name a few.

My sympathy also goes out to all the individuals who have lost jobs, and especially to the families who have lost loved ones. And my greatest respect and admiration for everyone in the health services at the moment working extra long hours and dedicating themselves to saving the lives of others.

I am self isolating, have been since tuesday last week. I work in retail, BM...

I am quite fussy when it comes to hygiene, and it was drilled into me at an early age that if one sneezes or coughs, do it in a hanky or tissue. I have severe conjunctivitis in both eyes, i was born with no tear ducts so my eyes water a lot anyway, so i am sure this is where my cleanliness comes in.

Anyway, I arrived at work on tuesday after the big lockdown, and no one was taking precautions. For weeks now i have been pleading with management to allow the staff to wear gloves, each time it was rejected on, and get this, health and safety.... Yeah, I didnt get it either. But i turned up tuesday wearing latex gloves, surgical mask and so much hand sanitiser i could have washed my entire body in it if i wanted to. As i mentioned, no precautions were being taken, the staff room was full of staff like it usually is, the shoppers were not keeping their distance either. I completely lost my mind within 10 minutes and walked out absolutely horrified and in tears.

Add to all this that i had been quite ill since returning from wiltshire middle feb, and i am sure my illness returned the day i walked out too. Just typical cold like symptoms, snotty nose, coughing a lot, blowing hot and cold. A few days ago i thought i has contracted cv19 somehow as my cough was producing no phlegm at all, which worried me, but my symptoms are now decreasing each day.

My bonsai trees are loving me being home though, i have finally gotten round to making a bonsai fro a nursery stock rosemary, also a small group planting with some field maple saplings i collected 2 years ago. I am now down to just one bag of decent bonsai soil, so i am conserving that one til i really need it.

I also finally done some very hard root pruning on that rescued chinese elm of mine, the nebari was terrible, and the roots completely unworkable, so i must have removed about 95% of its roots, but i also took as much, if not more, foliage off than i usually would do, the tree was about 3 feet tall almost, its now about 8 inches tall with just a few thick branches. The buds are now sewlling, some are opened, so its looking good for now. I planted her in a round pond basket with a CD under the rootbase.

As far as work goes, I might not return to BM, so i might go and see if the homeless shelter i once worked for, needs any support, as doing nothing is not good for me.

You should start a thread for each of these. You will be amazed how quickly you are doing annual updates. Starting it now while you are housebound seems as good a time as any.

I'm like you brendan, my work fell dead 3 weeks ago with no chance of financial help so thankfully have a bit of savings. Busy with the trees, bought a 30 inch wingspan balsa spitfire so building that in the garage on the cold or wet days. Bought an olive tree from a guy in a van who supplies wholesale and show nursery products. Marked at £1000 and he only wanted £250 for it. Will post a pic when I get round to it.
Be safe everyone
