I count every tree I'm growing for bonsai, certainly those in pots and even those in the ground if they are destined for pots in years to come. Not seedlings or cuttings though - to me they don't count until I know them individually.

If you have a standard then who's to say where the line is - in a pot? in a ceramic bonsai pot? worthy of a club show? worthy of a national show? It's how many trees you have and work IMHO - not how many trees you have that qualify for the title "bonsai" by some arbitrary standard. I'd say you own and work 80 trees - categorising as you've done also makes sense to add clarity.

Agree with you Gary. Anything destined to be a bonsai. I must admit that due to covid 19 it has been a lot easier this year to look through the trees in the morning whilst having a cuppa and then decide which one to report or do any work on. Been able to spend more time without rushing and making mistakes.

Yes, even though my partner and are still going to work, the fact we are confined to home during days off has meant for the first time I've done all my wiring and repotting already and I took my time so that I don't have to look at horrible messy wire for the next two years or a dodgy planting angle im not quite happy with.

Yes Sizzla, its amazing how even though we are meant to know what we are doing , when we rush we can root prune and repot and then realize that we forgot to position the tree tree correctly.

Not just me then. :132doh: So many of my trees have their pot turned by a small angle to get the best front facing forwards. Thought for the day - breathe, take your time and get it right.
