Hi everyone. I've picked up a lot of good information from Graham Potter's blog over the years, but he does seem to spend a lot of time berating his customers for their ignorance and laziness!

I enjoy the blog, myself, despite the abuse (and I'm a regular customer of Kaizen).

I thought it might be fun to hear what all of you make of it!

You must be psychic! I was about to post the very same thing after today's rant from him. He used to post interesting stuff about trees but now it is just one long rant about how hard he works, how ignorant the rest of us are and how hard he works! I'm just getting fed up with it. And it takes him 3,000 words to say something that just a short paragraph would do.

Agreed. A few of my friends were discussing it yesterday. I think he says a lot of reasonable stuff but does tend to rant as well. Ignorant customers pay for goods and services. I like his site - its one of the better ones IMO. I wish the yamadori were cheaper.

He could be talking about me :132doh:. I ordered the tool set I was asking about in an earlier post. £160 pounds worth of tools (that’s a lot to me). 48hrs after my money was taken I got an email saying the tool set I had brought was incomplete as they had sold out of 1 of the tools but they would upgrade it for me. Which I said was absolutely fine but I was disappointed it had taken this long to let me know. Whether he classed me as complaining customer or not I don’t know. I don’t know if I was right to be a little niffed or not but in the present circumstances it’s not important. Even so I will continue to use kaizen bonsai as they have some great stuff.

Yeah, I must admit, it turns me off. There must be something going on for him to openly moan about having a successful business.

But did anyone notice on Facebook he said Kaizen are actively moving away from tree sales? It's in the post about movement of olives being stopped.

Graham does like a moan, can't believe any business would complain about being too busy in a climate where so many businesses are set to be going out of business in the next few weeks.
I think his prices are pretty good but the customer service isn't great. I bought some mesh from him but got sent some floppy green stuff where the holes were too big and cat litter just all fell out lol. When I emailed him he basically said I didn't know what I was talking about because hes used it for decades.
Well fair enough I just won't order mesh from him again lol

I agree I like Kaizen and when speaking to Graham, he always comes across very pleasant. I did have a large tree off him back in the winter. The soil was very poor, and was in desperate need of repotting come the early Spring.

I think people ask questions just as they don't know the history of the tree and only want to ensure they are doing the right thing by the tree. It's been in his care for God k owe how long, so he would have a better understanding than us on that particular tree.

I do enjoy his blog, I just wish he would understand that we all came to the hobby knowing little or nothing about it, just like Graham admits himself.

Rather than knock everyone, maybe a little understanding and support would be more appealing. I would assume that a lot of his bread and butter that keep his company afloat are the ones that he berates.

Haha, I've never read his blog but now I've read all your posts I have got to take a look!

I've read several now, and once you get past the cross bit, he talks a lot of good sense.

I wouldn't want him to change a word. Who doesn't love a grumpy wise man?

That's just his schtick, and it works for me.

And as for his knowledge, he's up there with Walter Pall and our own Arihato.
