So I was brought back a Ficus, ten years after I gifted it. It had no leaves, no green under the bark and apparently had been like that for a couple of month at least... "is there anything you can do to save it?" was the question I was asked. I explained to the owner that sadly this was a dead tree.
Anyway, I inherited the tree and the pot. My first action was to put the trunk on the pile of wood for the fire and clean the pot. But then I realised that the tree trunk is quite nice, the roots are especially intricate. So I picked it up again and decided to remove the bark just to see. The bark was quite loose and the difficulty only came from the intricacy.
What next? I am thinking sanding and oiling but for what purpose? All ideas are welcomed!
