How are peoples allotments doing?

This was it after I'd wrestled it into submission and built a few things.

Very neat and tidy! Have you got a tree growing bed?

Nice onions!
Mines doing ok this year. I moved house last year so I did about 50% of my normal sowing.

Mine looks like a jungle now. The rhubarb is the only non tree plant in the allotment.

Trunks are all thickening nicely. Most were pencil thin 3 years ago. Many are now three to four inches across and could be collected next year.

Most seem quite friendly and interested. I have to explain to the local council each year that I'm about to prune the trees after the annual inspection in Autumn, when they tend to complain. I've put weed matting down as they want to have evidence I'm cultivating the plot and they like me to keep the trees to 6ft. Odd as there are 25ft high fruit trees in many neighbouring plots.

I went onto the waitlist for an allotment and was offered a site. My wife suggested I "think carefully about it" as I would "spend too much time there and it is about 2 miles from home".

In an unprecedented moment of clarity I understood that she meant "you can have an allotment over my dead body".

I took the hint and gave up the site.

So I tend my allotment vicariously through all of you.

Yes they are a bit of a commitment. I only get an hour a week at mine and it's nowhere near enough

Mine as shown in the pictures above is fully weed matted and the trees simply grow. It's now only a few visits a year of a few hours each for pruning purposes. Of course the original weeding, planting and matting took a long time and collection will as well when the time comes.
