My Japanese is non existent but I was impressed at the way this grower demonstrated creating smaller bonsai by air-layering.
No, hear me out. Yes its just layering but its the location on the branch (or, actually, the trunk) where he makes the layer that amazed me.
I'm sure not many people have access to the "raw material" he has :eek: but the concept was a revelation.

Yes. Something I'd not really thought of before, but I'd imagine all the roots grew on the lower half. I'd liked the video to shown more of the method and the separation as well.

They explain that the meter tall bonsai most of us would give a kidney for just isn't that desirable in Japan at the moment so its better to do this to them!
Any thoughts?
