Hi all,
I hope this finds you well and your trees thriving.
Some of you might not even remember me. However I set this forum up a good while back as a place for me and a few others to hang and talk about wee trees. To be blunt I lost interest in the discourse after our great friend Don passed.

After much "soul" searching over the past couple of years I was about to pull the plug on the forum, but couldn't do it...

Whilst that was going on I was approached quite a few times by a company who wanted to take on the forum, I assumed they were scammers, but it turns out they are legit.

They have offered me some money for it. To be fair this is no dot com mega riches. I wouldn't even cover my costs in time over the years or effort. It literally is commercial transaction so there has to be some monetary transfer.
I stopped charging for advertising when covid hit, I didn't think it was fair to the guys as they would be struggling themselves and have been absorbing the costs myself since.

I would imagine the new owners will want to expand upgrade (very much needed) and grow the forum / obviously make their small investment back. I expect from some adverts.
They are motivated to make it a success and this will keep the forum alive and active.
I just don't have the heart any more. And this shows. I last logged in nearly a year ago!! I used to spend hours each day on here. mostly chatting to Don and all you guys.

The company have multiple forums covering many topics, this is their thing. My thing was just keeping the wee trees, which I still do, however they are currently on holiday at my mother's house as I get my garden landscaped.

I would say I will still be skulking around. But I haven't really been skulking or around on here for years now.

I wish you well and I am still conflicted as I go to sign the contract. But it will keep the forum alive.

John

Let’s hope they keep to the original format and it doesn’t all go way off course, hope u pop in from time to time too? I’ve met loads of people through this forum, I’d go as fas as to say with out this forum I wouldn’t have as many trees that I have now, I came here for advise about one tree, as I only the one I met Gwen and the rest is history now I have over 70 trees and still I’m here skulking around looking and reading what everyone posts even if I don’t write loads I’m still around ;-)

OMG Ive just checked when I Joined: 07 Mar 2012 23:27 10 years and counting long may it continue

I hope they do.
I realised I can no longer offer the forum the time and energy it needs. I am so proud of of what it has become over the years... When I created and then added myself as the first member on 13 Nov 2009, @ 17:58 apparently :-)

I think I was one of the first members too, John, after the transition from BonsaiHelp. I too hope the forum continues and maybe has a new lease of life.

Thank you for all you have done over the years. Like Will, I learnt a lot and made many new bonsai friends through this forum and, although I don’t post as much as I used to, I still look in often and read the discussions.

Onwards and upwards!

Thanks for the post John and for everything that Wee Trees has become.

I too was an early transitioner from BonsaiHelp and over the years have gained much from the forum, even if I don't post as much as I should.

We all felt the loss of Don who was such a rock of the forum, knowledgeable, humorous and always helpful.

Here's hoping that any changes which may occur are subtle and only for the better.

Before you go to enjoy other ventures, thank you John for all that you have done.
It's been a great site for getting people interested in the hobby and then informing them of what's current around the UK.

Firstly I would like to say a big thank you for setting up the forum.
For me it has been a big inspiration, starting like many with just a couple of sticks in pots. I echo what others have said, and like those, I now have plenty of trees that are bonsai and no longer sticks.
Although I have only ever met one member in the flesh, I feel that through this site I have several forum friends. I have also been impressed with the friendliness of the members and their openness to share their knowledge.

Thanks John for setting a foundation that I built a beautiful hobby upon. This site was (and still is) my inspiration, critic, mentor, fan, resource and benchmark.

Losing Don was a real blow. The generosity of spirit he brought created a slipstream we were all happily dragged along in. I know that I visited here so much less after Don left us for benches full of specimen trees.

I am glad you have received something for the huge work you put into weetrees. Please do spend more time here now that you are a member, free of the burden of responsibility of running weetrees.

Thanks John for all your hard work. I like this forum and the conversations we've all had. May it continue well. I don't post as much as I used to but I appreciate the forum being here.
