Back about 2002 one of the Swindon Club members worked for the local council and he brought these in to show that if given time trees will happily grow around anything.

Mind you I don't know how long you would have to park your bike against the tree for the brake lever to get embedded. Normally in Swindon if you leave your bike for 2 minutes and someone nicks it... :07hysterical:

So on another post when a nail or screw is used to hold a tree or whip to dead wood then this shows that the tree will eventually grow over it.

I used to tie my old dog outside sometimes. He is 12 years gone but the clothesline that I wrapped around the tree has completely disappeared into it. Shows its not just metal that trees enjoy eating.

I knew someone once who cut down a trre in the woods and his chainsaw hit something metal in the middle of the tree. It was a watch. They guessed it was woodsman in the past who used to tie their watch to trees when they were working.
