I've given up trying to keep the cats off the shelf . My wife wasn't up for me using chile powder like mike suggested in case it got in their eyes, even though it probably work. I bought some of the stuff they sell at the garden center to deter animals . As you can see it works well.

Haha yes i do remember the bonsai kittens. It caused a bit of a stir. Its the way my cats walk along the shelf inbetween the trees i don't like. Then they chase each other along it, oh and then theres the chasing flies in the summer through the trees. |

Smithy it might be possible to keep the cats off the bonsai shelves by a judicious use of high-voltage electrified razor wire alternating with a set of large mouse traps. I don't know if my suggestion would work, as I've never suffered this problem. J |

A water pistol will soon teach them dude plus it's totally painless, I've also heard orange rind or garlic will deter them too. Beautiful cat though dude. Or maybe some kind of net/mesh cover which you can just pull over, say fix it at the top and pull round and down then when you need to get to them just roll it up, this may knacker the aesthetics of your display me thinks though |

I used to have the water squirter but you have to be carefull when they are on the shelf as its quick movements running off the shelf is when you get the damage. Most of the problem is my fear as these two so far are pretty good and have caused no problems yet. When i'm out and in the night they get up to allsorts out there any way. Nets are not an option. I do have to cover the grow boxes as they love to scratch around in them. Where Sushi is lying in the pic it has had loads of pepper on it , is he bothered. |

Hi I purchased a sonic cat remover. It cost about £20, which I thought was a bit expensive, but it keeps next door's cats away from the pond. They don't seem to be keen on the bonsai, thank goodness. |

I would happily use something like this Keith but its hard when they are your loved ones that are causing you grief. I got the man down the road to run over the last two we had. |
