its the worst thing about non organic medium especially moler clay
Akadama is not just as fast but only slightly so as it dries out

Had a good 2 weeks here but the first week had some chilly nights, this last week has been great and the growth on my trees has been excellent. As I started last august into the bonsai world I didn't know how much went on in these first hot weeks, my oak is budding like mad, my juniper is flowering or growing something other than needles which I didn't know it did, my pine babies have really spurted now, my maple is still a no-no and I think my £2 Elm is actually surviving, bring on the sun !!!!

Got home tonight and everything was BONE dry :-(

But growth spurts are the order of the day which is good lots of feeding last year and no trimming is paying off i think

I am just glad that we are having some nice weather for a change ... and that I am on the conservative side with my soil mix (which for everything except Japanese White pines) contains a small amount of organic material. ;)
