Hello folks I'm quite keen to buy this Japanese Maple http://www.kaizenbonsai.com/red-maple-b ... a23-ts2385 I was just wondering weather it's a good price and if someone could give me a run down of its requirements as Ive read some conflicting information. Thanks |

That trunk could use some more girth so growing on in larger amounts of medium would help. It's an attractive tree but not cheap and the graft site is noticeable. It would be nice to see several together to pick out the most favourable trunk, nebari and graft. |

I've read that Maples are hardy and that they are very good for the less experienced. |

Hardy yes but they are subject to both wind and sunburn so dappled shade is best for them. |

I think that's a bit expensive if you are inexperienced, but if you can afford it then..... Deshojo are beautiful but can be a bit temperamental. You probably would have been better off with a green Acer as they are generally more robust, faster growing and hardy. They can have bigger leaves and internodes though. |
