Hi all, On bonsai4me, Harry Harrington suggests using completely inorganic soil for which he uses Tesco cat litter. He says sometimes he adds chopped bark. Does anyone know what form this chopped bark comes in? Is it composted bark, semi-composted or bark chips? (mmmmm, chips...) |

I use a composted bark by a company called Melcourt. I know it is not available all over the country but it might be worth phoning round a few local garden centres to see if they stock it. I use it in varying proportions with Tesco Lightweight Cat Litter depending on the water requirements of the tree I am repotting. The composted bark provides the mix with a little longer moisture retention. |
