Cab anyone give me any pointers as to how to get my small chojubai quince to flower. I've had it for a couple of years (from Lee Verhorrevort). It may well be too juvenile yet to produce flowers. The trunk is pencil-like and it is well covered with tiny leaves but has never flowered. All suggestions welcome |

No, Paul. It never puts on any growth to cut off !! I don't think I have EVER pruned it. It just leafs out and stays there. |

Yes, Paul, I have messaged Lee and he has got back to me with:- Keep it pot bound (like quite a few flowering trees) It likes shade but sun when in flower (bit contrary) They like a high potassium feed (i.e., Tomorite) I've also messaged sphagnumforce who has posted pictures on here of his chojubai also from Lee. Unfortunately his was purchased only this year at the Swindon show and was already starting to flower. I'll let you know the colour when it flowers I think most (if not all) are red.

Hi Gwen, never spoken to you on here before but read lots of your helpful posts! I may not be able to help much, but how was it grown? As in from seed, cutting etc. i just ask because I know sone plants need to hit a certain number of leaf nodes before flowering. For example citrus - they won't flower til they've hit a predetermined node count so take ages from seed. Most of my citrus are from cuttings, so even though theyre small and compact, the trees remember the node count and flower happily! |

Hi aesir22 (would be lovely to have a name !). I purchased mine from Lee Verhorevoort too so in all probability it was imported, possibly from Japan, so I have no way of knowing it's history. |

It's a little worrying it's not putting on growth though. If it stays put all season I'd inspect the roots and see if your problem lies there. |
