Does anyone recognise this mystery flowering tree?

It's a beauty, flowers in July, slow growing and small leaves. Seems ideal for bonsai! But....

...but is it suitable for growing in a pot? Can it be air layered?

Hi Dave, courtesy of Google lens, it's a crepe-myrtle. Looks like it's suitable for bonsai...
