Hello all,

I have a quick question. When is a good time to repot a juniper? I live is south Texas and its late winter, weather is around 50 degrees but suppose to get very cold in february.

Wait until late winter or early spring if you know the tree and have had it a few years and can be sure it is healthy. Otherwise wait a season to make sure it is well and then do it next season.

I am well underway into my re-potting now. However, I stick them in my unheated greenhouse to keep out of wind and rain, plus it keeps them a degree or two warmer.

In Texas?

It's a big place with multiple different USDA temperature zones...so there's no one-size fits all answer.

The real question is "Does it really need repotting?"...unnecessary repotting kills far more trees than not repotting at all.

I live in Victoria TX, which is about 3 hours from the Mexican border. I think its time I have had the juniper for a year and its doing great, but its in the same nursey pot so I think its time to repot.

If you are not sure just slip pot it into a slightly larger pot.
