Guys my fricking cat has just plucked one of my baby White Pine seedlings out of the pot, now there was no damage to the plant and the root was still attached. There was no other spindly roots coming off just a spear shape light green, white to light brown shape. I've just made a hole back in the soil about an inch to inch and a half down and popped it back in and pushed the soil down onto it. Will it be ok and is there anything else I should do now ?, does anyone have any tips to keep cats away from my seedlings ?. He got a slap on the arse and I've just kicked him out by the way. God I'm so annoyed, Thanks guys any help would be very very appreciated :120ranting:

where are the seedlings, if indoors, like a windowsill or something, then a cactus at each side of it will keep the cat away. if outdoor in a bed, try tying some string around the area with strips of tinfoil tyed to it so it flutters around in the breeze, it distracts cats and keeps them at bay.
the seedling should be ok as long as it was put back in straight away, if it lay for a while it may be damaged.

Mike the dog is a great idea untill you get one like my young border collie who thinks he's a fantastic landscaper/gardener. by that he means digging, pulling and shredding anything that takes his fancy.

at the moment my silver birch sapplings are ok as they are high up and protected by nettles in front........he does keep the cats away from his part of the garden though.

Ahhh my absolute favourite of all dogs. We have one Tri-colour now but have been up to three borders in the past. They are super intelligent and so loving...and generally they do not care for cats either which is a bonus..

Cheers guys I've sprinled pepper over the soil and put a candlabra type thing next to it, the problem is my cat Joey likes to sit on the sill next to my trees. He's always sat there even before my trees where there. Anyway I've posted a picture up, I cant see any damage but maybe you guys may notice something. Thanks ......Mikey

I think he probably thinks it's his place and the trees have no right to be there. Could you find somewhere else for the trees?

Hi Daryl, I could possibly put them in my daughters room upstairs which faces the same way but he's still prone to go up there too, I'm going to repot them in the spring and put 2 of them outside so I'll just have wait til then and hope my obstructions put him off. Thanks....Mikey
