I do... I am wondering if I am the only one? Once I have removed a few and they lay, all twisty, on the side on my work bench, I take my small pliers, grab one side and start to pull and twist. they quick restraighten. If there is any sdamage to the surface (scratches, cuts), I cut off those parts. How are you dealing with yours? |

I unwind and reuse wires that can be removed without risk to the tree as you do. Not always possible but less costly if it is. |

Sometimes i remove wire from a tree by cutting it to pieces and disposing.other times i un wrap wire and re use it. Usually depends on the thickness.thicker gauge wire usually gets cut off. |

I just cut the wire off bit by bit. And hope the world has enough aluminium reserves to cope. |

Top tip: use the hinges on your wheelie bin to get nearly straight wire. Pass round the hinges, grab the ends in each hand and pull it back & forth quickly... I recycle some wire to bend raw material but I wouldn't use it on trees you want to refine. |

Hi Re-using wire can be a false economy. Once you have broken an important branch by trying to unwind the wire you will understand why Thought: if the wire comes of that easily, maybe it shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Reusing wire is just common sense. I have a pot full of little bits of cut-off wire that I keep in the hope that one day I'll figure out something useful to do with them - any suggestions? Copper wire is very difficult to unwind as it hardens with use. But if you do get it off you will be able to re-use it without any problems as long as you can anneal it - but what a load of bother. Aluminium wire weakens with use, and re-using it may frustrate you as it will not be as effective second time around. I would never remove wire with a view to reusing it if there was even a remote chance I'd damage the wired branch or any of the other branches on the tree as I try and unwind it. |

I mostly unwind and reuse but on occasion I cut it off. |

I reuse it. I tried the trick of wrapping it round a pole and pulling back and forth to straighten it, but it mostly just damaged the wire. Perhaps it only works on thicker wire. Pulling both ends doesn't get it straight enough for me, but I've got pretty good at straightening wire with my fingers in-front of the TV. |
