3rd acquisition of the weekend, along with a Maple Dissectum and another Azalea from Ebay. Satsuki again? Thoughts/opinions/advice? Not sure how much potential it has or even what to do with it really. I know they backbud well, so do I just chop it really short and start over? Happy for it to be a long term project. It's likely to be quite root bound like the other two/. ![]() Full album: https://imgur.com/a/F3Emc An idea I had for a plan - too much like topiary though perhaps?: ![]() More of a slant to it?:

it doesn't look like an imported azalea, so it won't be a sastuki, my guess is that its a garden azalea, or possibly a kurume |

I think the crossing trunk would bother me. Maybe a twin would work. I've only had mine a couple of years and they do shoot back if you prune them hard - it seems to be the recommended practice. If I don't cut them back mine just seem to extend and extend. |

If there is any chance you can get that middle trunk across so that you have a triple trunk, then you'd have a pretty good triple trunk. |

Or should I not worry too much about it? Gary Jones wrote: I think the crossing trunk would bother me. Maybe a twin would work. I'll maybe see if I can bend it. |

Update to show it in bloom. Haven't done any work on this just yet. Might give it a prune now that flowering is done, but I kinda feel like I should address the roots/soil situation first. The trunks are too thick and heavy to bend, hopefully I can get some backbudding and eventually reduce the right hand trunk back down below the point where it crosses.

Enjoy removing the flower heads They do back bud well especially when pruned and light and air can get in. |
