| Post subject: | Advice for Thread grafted Beech |
Here is a root thread graft on a Beech Ive been playing around with- I thread grafted a sapling in 2015 at the base to try to form roots on one side because the tree, which I collected from a steep bank, is rather one sided and it was lacking roots on that side. Im now considering when to remove the growing top of the grafted sapling as I think the graft has taken judging by the increased girth on the root side of the graft.(photo taken in July 2017) Any comments or advice on further design and when to sever the grafted whip would be much appreciated!! Keep it as a sacrifice branch if it is not directly in your chosen front? The trunk is pretty taperless, so it can help widen the base. |

Never tried myself. Possibly easier to do a ground layer first? It is a challenging piece of material. |
