Tree's looking really good.

Read Walter Pall's blog about the hedge method. Hornbeam respond especially well to that appraoch. That's a new and young tree and I'd be pressing it hard for a few years yet before I tried to reduce the pot size.

Feed and water - grow it out, trim back - repeat. Pic the leader that needs thickening and leet it grow free etc.

Please remember to post some pics after leaf drop, as I am interested to see how this tree has developed.

Post leaf drop pics. There are a few bits I'm not happy with - thick taperless, straight branches, odd angles etc. Some of the pruning areas haven't healed very nicely either. Guess I hope for backbudding in some good spots and reduce some of the bad sections

I have always liked this tree as it has great potential. From those pics you can see how much more you can force the tree to bifurcate to improve the ramification. I'd cut back to just 2 leaf buds on most of those branches. Spend 2 - 3 seasons really cutting it back hard and growing it vigorously and you will reward yourself with a really worthy tree.

Really great trunk on that. Really worthwhile working on the ramification like Brendan said.
