I’ll pot this one up some time this week and have another one growing on the windowsill already. Good work! I'm a big fan of getting cuttings to root, and especially Sageretia more or less does the job for you as you found. Might not be interesting to everyone but you can see some of my fun with sag-cuttings (saggings??? ) in this album: Sageretia cuttings Also I'm loving that second chinese elm, great curve and taper in the trunk, amazing for such a bargain-bucket purchase. |

Saggings! xD Yeah, my parents got me that one for my birthday last year, I think it was a Tesco or Asda find so a little more expensive than the £5 Morrison’s ones but not by much! I just hope I can do it justice in terms of styling! |

Your second CE is going to be an amazing tree I think. Lose the lowest branch on the left and aim for a clean curve on the inside with a complete canopy opposite. You will need to wire the 2 lower right side branches into a mure horizontal position: 2019-10-21_05-42-40 by BrendanR2012, on Flickr Chinese Elm by Christine Sutcliffe, on Flickr[/quote] |

Funnily enough, one of my favourite trees is an Elm that I bought in Safeways nearly twenty years ago, before Morrisons bought them out. ... This was it when I photographed it last spring, some twenty years later and now standing at well over two feet tall.... Amazing work wow |

So how many people still have their Morrisons purchases alive? I still have the CE but the indoor one died. |

I bought this Chelm from Morrisons late last year, It was very cheap, maybe a fiver, I didn't take a pic of it when I got it but took one after i'd chopped a fair bit out! After i'd hacked a load off and put a bit of wire on loosely.. It's still alive, I keep having to prune it back though as it gets overgrown quite quickly!! I think I may put it in the ground next spring although as i'm getting older, I'm liking small trees more than the big heavy ones!! John |

That last picture looks very nice Daryl. Perhaps a smaller pot would enhance it further. |

I agree about the pot, Gary. These were temporary homes while I built the trees up to good health. They’ll probably get new pots in a couple of years time but I’m in no rush. |
