I actually joined Weetrees some months ago and each week, meant to post an introduction.

After seeing a friends bonsai collection some years ago, I eventually picked up my first tree about two years ago. Fast forward to date and I now have a collection of about twenty trees.

I've wanted a 'chunky' crab apple for some time and early this week, placed an order for one with an online company I have used before.

The tree was collected by the courier on Wednesday for a within 48 hours delivery however, it was delivered to the wrong depot. It is now winging it's way back to the sorting hub and after calling them this morning, won't be delivered until Monday earliest.

I know it will depend on a number of factors however, how long would a parceled tree remain healthy?

I'll have to post some information on my collection and introduce myself more formally....

this is something i have always wondered.I've never bought a tree mail order, so have no experience at all, but i suppose it'll depend upon whether the tree is being sent bare root or potted in soil. The latter could take more punishment than a bare-root example i'd imagine.

So, to sum up, i have no idea!.

Depends on the trader who sent it, normally it would have been well watered before it was sent and also the soil is normally covered in plastic to stop it from going all over the place.

If it was packed well then it should be ok

I have had a tree from them before and one thing I can say, is that it was packed and secured extremely well.

I even had trouble trying to get it out of the packaging...

I'm hoping the tree arrives on Monday and will be healthy..

On that basis and from what Paul says (which I second) you should be fine. It's in their interests to pack them well to protect from damage and preserve the moisture so you feel comfortable using them again. My first tree was a present from my wife that was delivered two weeks before Christmas and she kept it in the box for the two weeks. It was fine.

John

I did try to contact them by phone all day Friday, but they had an automated message set on their landline saying there was an issue with the phone. I also sent an e-mail on the same day.

I did also try to call this morning however, the automated message then stated they were shut until 9am Monday.

This morning, I posted a message on their Facebook account.

Haven't heard anything as of yet.

I have used them for tools, etc. and am confident that they will respond in due course.

I'm hoping the tree isn't delayed further and is delivered on Monday.

Take photos as soon as its delivered, from before the box is opened to when the tree is unwrapped. If there's anything wrong you'll have proof it's not your fault.

Many thanks for all of the responses.

I did receive an e-mail today from the supplier who confirmed that they also send trees into Europe, which remain in the parcel for 10 days.

I'm hoping in arrives tomorrow.

Will obviously take photo's as suggested.
