I was tidying a neglected border today and found this. It was a downward facing branch from a small leaved cotoneaster and had run along the inside edge of a small retaining wall round the bed. It had good roots in the two places where you can see the tubing protecting the trunk from the tie down wires. At the thickest part it is about 1" diameter and is about 15" long. Something to play with next year when it has developed a good root system :smallthumb:

I can see now that is not a good photo. It actually has two trunks which run close to each other and cross in places making a very interesting overall look. I'll get a better picture later.

Lovely that Daryl, I have a Taxus that was layered similarly!

It appears to have some self set plants now!! :132doh:

I think I won it at the South Yorkshire Bonsai Society auction some years ago and am afraid I don't have a clue what to do with it!! ::dunno:

I wouldn't know what to do with yours either, John, but it looks healthy :smallthumb:

Great. The more unusual the better. Like it.

I did two recently, one a pyracantha and the other a cotoneaster, so I am also having a play with them to see what I can make out of them.
