Hey folks. Do any of you use the black putty cut paste that Kaizen sell? Any idea how to remove it?! I thought it would come off quite easily but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I had a wound on a maple tree that I treated and covered with the putty/paste - naturally, some of the paste got onto the bark. I want to check up on the wound so have tried to remove the paste - but I can’t get it all off. Any ideas? Thanks all, Andy |

I've always found them very helpful. |

I use a small brass brush to remove the old bits if required. I check the cut area in the following late spring and trim up as below as required .then just leave it alone for a few years until it naturally falls off. Also with cuts there can be a couple of mm,s of die back on the bark/cambium layer . This will die back to a point where there is a natural flow of sap etc. A piece of advice I work to was to trim the dead areas with a scalpel back to the green cambium point. Make this a very smooth clean cut. Because of the sap flow this will then heal over more consistently . |
