Hi all, These are a pair of larches I've worked on over the last couple of years. I'm cautiously optimistic with how things are going given I'm a beginner, but if anyone has any constructive criticisim or pointers for future direction that'd be great. Thanks, Marc. Hi So far so good. The jins you have do not go with the flow of the rest of the tree. If you wrap them in foil, protect the rest of the tree and apply a blowtorch to heat them up. You will then be able to bend them and make them look more natural. |

Mmmm there's a couple I really like. Have you been using Arihato's chronicles? viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14292 |

Thank you all for the encouraging replies. I've heard of Arihato before, but I've not seen that document, so thank you for the link. I've found this blog - https://robertnochershohinbonsai.wordpress.com/tag/larch/page/1/ - very useful in giving me some inspiration. So in terms of future development, is it a case of fixing the jins and building up further ramification? |

Just removed the wire from one of the trees, but this was how it looked before - |

Quick update on these two, looks like it's been a good growing season for both. Lots of new growth to work with in developing the ramification. Both will go into shallower training pots in the spring to slow them down a bit and to correct the planting angles. One thing I've noticed is that they've both sprung back from the wiring I did earlier in the year. Is that normal? Did I take the wire off too early, or is that the way with larches? |

I leave wire on larches for the whole growing season. A bit of biting in usually heals with time. I find branches will set in position if not in one growing season then the next. |
