I saw this while out for a walk in a pile of fly tipped garden waste. It's very bare but has lots of new growth and an interesting shape. Is it worth taking?

Hi

Probably not, but you probably have nothing to lose by trying.

It'll give you a project

Do you know what it is? Are the roots coming from under the paving slab? I can't quite make it out.

Hi Gary. Not sure what it is and yes roots have taken hold in the rubble under the slab. It will come out with ease.

Assuming you don't already have too many trees, you may as well take it and play. If it's not good for whatever reason you can always bin it later.

I think I'll take it and see what happens.

Common privet?
If so, it should be quite an easy thing to play with, try air layering, etc..

I'd say pyracanthus. I'd take it. THose buds all over the place give you plenty of options for future air layers. Pyracanthus airlayer well.

Yeah Brendan I think you're right, you can see the thorny spikes near the bottom of the first pic.
