Repotting an azalea in summer is bad. Especially so in hot and dry climates. Even in Japan with hot and very rainy weather in summer, May is about the latest you should do a repot. After frost in early spring is probably the best time. Or late winter if you have a greenhouse. Once it is mid May or beyond, better to wait until September or so.

Often people say to prune hard and repot after flowering. This was done in Japan for a long time. But I think in the last decade many people had bad results because they had some extremely hot summers in Japan. If you are in a place like Ireland, then you can probably still do it. But Madrid, definitely not. So wise choice and good timing. Of course, it also depends on where in Japan you are. Kyushu vs a very rainy area of Kansai is not the same, of course.
