I couldn't resist, this shohin sized maple.
My last seasonal purchase. Acer plamatum (small leaf and equally short internodal length)
getting it through the winter is my chalange.

Nice tree Maples are quite tough most are frost hardy vigorous and very tough,now the Trident Maple needs winter protection below -5 Celsius. |

Looks good. Japanese maples have lovely colours in autumn and spring, beautiful shape leaves in summer, and if you work on fine ramification they can have a beautiful winter image too. It's the tree of four seasons! Now where's that guinness gone- I'm getting thirsty! |

All my mountain maples stay outside unless we start to get near minus 10. You should be OK in Belfast with the gulf stream keeping you relatively warm. |

Cheers guys I've kinda taken to this little tree. Thanks, Richard for your point on the weather...although I haven't watered anything in a couple of days as the rain is horrendous, the garden is flooded. I had a scare one night and I took everything into the greenhouse because of frost. Glad I did as I think I've lost at least one Clematis. Stressful lol Regards C |
