It looks like a Scots, it isn't doing well due to the size of pot and poor soil

You can pot these in Autumn but they need Winter care, I much more prefer to do them in later Spring.

Try it in a larger pot [not too big] and once it has settled start feeding to get some vigour back into it and help it to grow strongly.

I've scraped the weeds from the surface of the compost but it's actually very loose like there's very little rootage! :132doh:

I'll leave it until spring then repot it, I'll find a suitable pot out tomorrow :201thumbup:

EDIT- Meant to say that i've put it in to a cold greenhouse so that I can control the water intake!

Any idea what the soil is?

Is there anything like Kyadama [grit soil] in there for better drainage?

If the roots aren't doing very well then it has probably got too wet, so the unheated greenhouse should help

I don't recall what I used when I repotted it but when I removed the weeds it was very granular!!, It looks like fine Akadama but it's dark coloured like there's normal potting compost, Only there isn't any!!

When you repot it try and get some mycelium from another pine pot to stick in the soil mix as that will help the tree's recovery.

If it's been repotted a few times there might not be any in there now, especially with it being such a small pot.

I've only repotted it once since I bought it in '09, I have some mycelium that I bought from Homebase but them was told there were different kinds!, I have some Pines to repot next year so may actually find some!, I repotted an Oak last year and the compost was stuffed with it!!
