The buds are popping on many of my trees now, I have a Katsura maple that is always the first maple to come in to leaf, It did again this year, The only one fully in leaf!! Sorry about the pic, I don't seem to take very good ones, The trees behind are making this hard to make out properly!! ![]() ![]() I bought this larch from the Bonsai traders do when it was at Don Velly stadium years ago from the Scot's potter Ian Baille, There's only one branch coming from the rear, Had to wire it up, The buds are popping, I removed a load of cones, Left a couple though, It shed the bottom left branch so seems to lost the balance now ![]() ![]() There were some ugly bits when I bought it that IO carved back, Still ugly but not quite as much now!! I made quite a long shari at the front but the bark rolls over so well that it grows back fairly quickly, I recut it a couple of years ago but I think i'll leave it to carry on up the trunk! ![]() All of the acers except two are swelling now, There's just a Ukon and a Shin Desjhojo that are still sleepy!! ![]() Even my one and only Deshojo cutting is bursting to life!! ![]() HAGWE John |

Katsura is one of my favourite maples. The spring foliage is breathtaking, fiery orange-red before settling into a light green for the season. Nice. |
