Upon the advent of my recent 60th Birthday, I was bestowed with (besides other things) a few of the Queen's beer tokens. :27drunk.
So not wanting to Pee it all against a wall I decided to become the custodian of a new pre-bonsai tree.

Lodgepole Pine. Pinus contorta "Latifolia"
Collected a yamadori from the shores of Lake Coribb (Ireland) a few years back, it has gone from strength to strength and has recently been cleaned out and given its first styling, whilst keeping the general upright natural stance of the tree in the wild.
Still lots of work to do in the comming years.

Just a guess because I know you live in NI and that you know Ian. Just put 2 and 2 together :smallthumb:

Dead giveaway then lol
Yes, I'm purchasing it from Ian he collected the raw material ( I'm presently taking study group lessons) Joining the Northern Ireland Bonsai Society, and when I have enough decent trees I will be having Ian round for some one-to-one tutorials. a very knowledgeable chap and is not shy to share this.
Always enjoy my Saturday morning sessions

Can’t tell from the pictures, is that you and your trees? You are very lucky if you can get to a group like that every Saturday morning - I wish I could find something like that near me.

It's me, (slightly on the large size lol) I wish they were mine, daryl, but I wouldn't have the knowledge to know what to do with them. They are all Ian's. We pay to learn and he gets help with wiring defoliation repotting etc...Works well for all involved. Not to mention good banter, bespoke coffee and patisseries. (once a month). He runs a Friday night class too.
I'll stick some images up of his huge collection shortly.
Great Guy

Happy Birthday!

And what a fabulous self-gift for an important birthday! :Big Thumb:
