I’m not sure, Brendan. The top part is still very much alive although further into its autumn colours than the bottom half. I last looked a couple of months ago and there were plenty of knobbly bits around the cut but I don’t know if they were callouses or emerging roots. I’ll go and have another look and post a photo later. |

I put this in a fb group and have been advised that it is all callous caused by the layer being too wet and that I shouldn’t have separated it. Oh well, we live and learn.

I potted it up and it seemed fine but when I had a cautious look at the roots there weren’t any! Just the lump of callous which was somehow still sustaining the tree. So I cut away some of the outside edge of the callous and put it back in my humid propagator . Fingers still crossed!! |

Remarkably yes it is but I don’t know how as it still doesn’t seem to have any roots! It’s living in a high humidity propagation dome so drying out isn’t a problem but I don’t know how much longer it will need to stay in there
