Yes, I have since been told that keeping the layer too wet causes this type of callous. Over cautiousness on my part not wanting it to get too dry

No, sadly. It struggled on for another few months then finally gave up and died. |

i have had a few do this , i have found if you let them dry out a little it encourages root growth |
