I basically built those benches and it keeps everything a LOT tidier; and is only about one meter wide or so so actually reduced the amount of space I take up. My wife was even HAPPY with how much better everything looked. Didn't make any friends with the neighbours, mind you.

I haven't made as much use of recycling the cat litter over previous years as I could have. That's all changed this year. So far I have only purchased 1 new bag and instead have totally reused what came out of the pot where practical. As you noted jerry akadama is a lossy material with 50% recovery an excellent outcome. Moler clay on the other hand has I would reckon nearly 100% reuse rate with all the really tiny particular matter having gone out the bottom in its first rinse through the year before. With this in mind it makes akadama seem like a redundant product much as the tiny mobile I am writing this on replaced the massive bricks of the 80's |
