I was going to use bubblewrap to insulate my greenhouse to overwiter some of my trees. I already have a roll of the silver coated bubblewrap like the type you put behind radiators. Anyone know if this would be ok ok to use, thought the reflective side could cover the back of the greenhouse that is up against a fence then the clear bubblewrap on the roof and front/sides. Does that sound ok or is it best to use the large bubble type ?? Cheers Richard |

Most type of bubble wrap will give you some insulation, but the best to use is the large bubble "trilaminate" type that is specifically made for greenhouse insulation. |

I've just done my new (to me) greenhouse with some bubblewrap made for greenhouses which means it's much better than parcel wrapping bubblewrap. I'm not too concerned about creating the tropics in December, more giving my trees a Cornish winter instead of a West Midland one. I don't see why you shouldn't use the silver backed insulation as long as you use it where passage of light through is not crucial. If you use a greenhouse heater (as I intend to do when it gets colder) maybe the silver backing will reflect the heat back into the greenhouse. I suppose it all depends on how cold it gets. We may find that all our efforts are merely ******* in the wind ! Gwen |

Off to the garden centre to get some bubble wrap, better to get the a more insulating type. May use the silver coated type, not sure if it will reflect heat and make the greenhouse temperatures fluctuate differently ?? Thanks Richard |
